Max at the 2021 Chain Film Festival, NYC

I've watched Max work as an actor, a director, and a coach. His ability to communicate and build confidence in others is like none other.
– Austin Pendelton, HB Studios.

A strong performance takes a lot of work. To be consistently strong takes craft. Powerful, consistent performances occur when an actor is engaged with their imagination, have put themselves fully into the role, and can easily articulate through expression their full range of feelings and emotions.

*Max is an award winning actor who has worked on camera and on stage in New York, Los Angeles, and across the country. Acting should always be fun. It should help people. Especially young people. Our aim is to help artists at every level, and to treat every student like an artist.

'If you aren't having fun, you aren't doing it right.'

Technique and Craft

The craft of acting allows you to take an empty space and fill it with anything you can imagine, take those things you imagined and make them so real to yourself that they become real to everyone around you. That is good for acting. It is a truly remarkable thing, and it’s something anyone can learn.

Max will teach you the techniques first recorded by Stanislavski and the Moscow Art Theater which Stella Adler, Lee Strasberg, Sanford Meisner, Uta Hagan, and many others have built upon. Lee Strasberg’s Sense Memory exercises allow you to actually FEEL the rain on your skin or the wind in your face.  Sandy Meisner’s repetition exercises let you go past the dialogue and delve into deep, raw emotion. That depth is the difference between a magnetic screen presence or a dull one.

Using Your Body and Your Breath

Learn how to use your body, voice, and breath to be comfortable even under stressful circumstances. Like being on stage or on camera. We’ll use the techniques from Frederick Alexander and The Laban / Bartenieff Fundamental to control anxiety, create self-confidence, and access deep emotion we hide away from ourselves.
